Dr. Jinzhuo Zhao is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Environmental Health at Fudan University’s School of Public Health. She also holds a dual appointment as a Professor of Extreme Weather, Climate, and Health Risk Interconnection and Governance at both the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and the IRDR International Center of Excellence, Fudan University.

In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Zhao is the director of the Shanghai Society of Trace Elements and serves on several professional committees, including the Respiratory Toxicology Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Toxicology and the Environmental Medicine Special Committee of the Shanghai Society of Environmental Sciences. She is also a young editor on the 6th Editorial Board of the Journal of Environmental and Occupational Medicine.

Dr. Zhao’s research focuses on the complex interactions between air pollution, climate change, and health, particularly in relation to cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and metabolic diseases. She has taken charge of numerous significant research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s Major Research Program, the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Key R&D Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation’s General and Youth Projects.

To date, Dr. Zhao has authored or co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, such as Particle and Fiber Toxicology, Chemosphere, and Science of The Total Environment. She is also the editor-in-chief of the textbooks Environmental Hygiene and Atmospheric PM2.5 and Health.

Dr. Zhao’s interdisciplinary expertise and contributions to environmental health continue to advance the understanding of how environmental factors impact public health, especially in the context of global climate change.
